Lovox and AI agents: connect via MCP
MCP is a protocol that lets an external AI agent read product data and take actions in it.
Built-in AI, automations and MCP agents
Lovox connects to Claude, Codex and other agents via MCP. The agent works in the product like a team member. It reads a task and its context, writes a comment, changes the status, and finds and edits a knowledge base article.
Built-in AI
Helps you change the tone and wording when you write comments.
Board automations
Create simple automatic rules. Pick an event, such as “task completed”, and an action, such as “send a notification”.
AI agent via MCP
Connect external AI services to Lovox so they can work with data and take actions automatically. They stay within the permissions you give them.
How to connect an agent
You can connect Claude, Codex or any other client that works over MCP.
- Step 1
Create an access token
Choose what the AI agent can do in Lovox. For example, read tasks, change their status or work with the knowledge base.
- Step 2
Connect Lovox to your AI agent
Add the token to your MCP client. The agent can then work with Lovox on your behalf.
- Step 3
Give the agent a task
Just write what you need in plain words. For example: “Show my tasks”, “Find this in the knowledge base” or “Update the task status”.
- Step 4
Turn off access at any time
If you no longer need access, revoke the token. After that, the agent can’t work with your Lovox.
What the agent can and can’t do
An AI agent is an app like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT Desktop that you give work to in plain words. Once connected, the agent works with your tasks and articles in Lovox on its own. It only does what you allow.
What it looks like
- “What are my tasks for today?”
- Finds your tasks for today and lists them by due date.
- “What’s left to do on the report task?”
- Opens the task, reads the description, checklist and comments, and sums up what’s not done yet.
- “Write that the work is done and close the task”
- Adds a comment on your behalf and closes the task after you confirm.
- “How do we request time off?”
- Finds the right info in the knowledge base and gives you a clear answer right away.
- “Save this guide to the knowledge base”
- Creates a new article, adds it to the right section and fills in the fields.
What you can allow the agent to do
When you connect an agent, Lovox shows this list with checkboxes. Everything is checked at first. Uncheck what you don’t need.
Tasks
- Read tasks
- The agent can open tasks and see their description, status, due dates, assignees, checklists, comments, attachments and other data. It can also list the tasks assigned to you.
- Add comments
- The agent can leave comments on tasks on your behalf. If a comment mentions a teammate, they get a notification.
- Change status
- The agent can move tasks between statuses, for example from “In progress” to “In review”. It asks you to confirm before it closes a task.
- Check off checklist items
- The agent can mark checklist items as done or clear the mark. It asks you to confirm before it makes a change.
- Change assignees
- The agent can add and remove task assignees. It can only pick people who have access to that board.
Knowledge base
- Read the knowledge base
- The agent can search and open articles and answer questions about knowledge base content. It also sees related articles and tasks.
- Create and edit articles
- The agent can create articles and change their title, text, properties, icon and cover. It can’t delete articles.
- Change the knowledge base structure
- The agent can create sections and new article properties. These changes affect the whole team, so it asks you to confirm first. Only workspace admins can create sections.
How you control the agent
- The agent only sees the boards, tasks and knowledge base sections you have access to.
- The agent acts on your behalf. Its comments and changes show up as yours.
- Access covers one workspace only. The agent can’t see your other workspaces.
- In the AI agents section, you can see which agents you gave access to and when they last used it.
- You can revoke access at any time. The agent stops working with your workspace right away.
What the agent can’t do
- Create or delete tasks
- Change a task’s title, description, due date, priority or labels
- Create boards or change their settings
- Track work time or view rates and reports
- Invite people or change their roles and access permissions
- Create or edit automations
- Delete articles permanently or move them between sections
- Expand its own access permissions
Prompt library
Create your own prompts for working with tasks and save them in the library. Run a saved prompt again without typing it out each time.
FAQ about AI agents in Lovox
What is MCP in Lovox?
MCP is a way to connect an external AI agent to Lovox. The agent can read tasks and the knowledge base and take allowed actions. For example, it can change a task’s status, write comments or edit articles.
Which AI agents can I connect to Lovox?
You can connect any AI client that supports MCP. Lovox has ready-made guides for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT Desktop. For other clients, use the MCP server address and an access key.
How do I connect an AI agent to Lovox?
Open Workspace settings → AI agents, choose your client and set what the agent is allowed to do. Lovox creates an access key and shows the details you need to connect.
What can the agent do with tasks?
The agent can read tasks and comments, view attachments and related tasks, change status, set assignees, check off checklist items and write comments. It can’t create or delete tasks.
What can the agent do with the knowledge base?
The agent can search and read articles, view the knowledge base structure, create and edit articles, and create sections and properties. It can’t delete articles.
Can I give the agent read-only access?
Yes. You turn on each permission separately. You can let the agent only read tasks and the knowledge base. Then it can search and analyze information but won’t change anything.
What does the agent see in the workspace?
Only what you have access to. If you can’t see a board or a knowledge base section, the agent can’t open it either. Its abilities are also limited by the permissions you chose when you connected it.
How do I see what the agent did?
The agent works on your behalf, so its comments and changes show up as yours and are saved in task history. In the AI agents section, you can also see when access was last used.
How do I disconnect an AI agent?
Open the AI agents section in workspace settings and revoke its access key. The agent loses access to Lovox right away.
How is an AI agent different from built-in AI and automations?
Built-in AI helps you work with text and make summaries inside Lovox. Automations follow simple rules: “when an event happens, take an action”. An AI agent is an external app you can give more complex tasks in plain words.
